Cutesy name: Beach Hippie
Time it took us: 2 minutes
Works on:
· Medium or long hair
· Unwashed, dry, slept-on hair
Stuff to have handy:
· Large bobby pins
· 1-inch curling iron
· Shine spray
· Light-hold hairspray
-
How to:
Step 1
Flip hair over and lightly spritz hairspray on underside. Flip upright and spray on the top. Finger-tousle as it dries.
Step 2
Gather your bang-hair area and bobby-pin it out of the way so you can style the rest of your hair first.
Step 3
Curl 1-inch sections (away from your face). Start wrapping your hair around the iron at ear level, not above. And leave your ends out of the curling iron.
Step 4
Unpin the bang section and curl as you did the rest of your hair.
Step 5
Insert spread fingers into hair at the nape of your neck. Shake your hair (but do not run fingers through) to make the curls messy.
Step 6
Now pin back a piece of hair on each side of your part. (Remember, messy = good.)
Secure them together with a bobby pin and mist with shine spray.

Cutesy name: Side-swept Bun
Time it took us: 5 minutes
Works on:
· Medium or long hair
Stuff to have handy:
· A hair stick, or bracket thingy like the one pictured
· Shine serum or spray
· Comb
· Hair elastic
How to:
Step 1
Make a deep side part with a comb. Apply a bit of shine serum all over and comb through to tame flyaways.
Step 2
Gather your hair into a low side pony behind the ear opposite your part. Secure with a hair elastic.
Step 3
Wrap the tail up toward your ear, then under the pony (into a bun), leaving the endsfree.
Step 4
Pierce the bun with your hair stick, making sure to thread one end of the stick through the elastic before letting it pop out the other side. This holds the bun in place.

Cutesy name: High-volume Pony
Time it took us: 5 minutes
Works on:
· Medium or long hair
· Dirty hair
Stuff to have handy:
· Headband
· Comb
· Hair elastic
· Clip (to hold hair out of the way)
How to:
Step 1
Divide hair from ear to ear over the top of your head. Clip that front section out of the way.
Step 2
At the crown of your head, take a two-inch section of the remaining hair and tease thearea near your scalp to create the bouffant behind the headband. Messy is fine; we're about to cover it up anyway.
Step 3
Un-clip the front section and smooth it back over the teased area, gathering all your hair into a low pony. Reserve a one-inch section of your longest hair and secure the rest with an elastic.
Step 4

Step 5
Slip on a headband.

Cutesy name: Pin-up Curves
Time it took us: 10 minutes
Works on:
· Curly or wavy hair in any length
· Straight-haired girls can pull it off too with five extra minutes of curling iron time
Stuff to have handy:
· 1-inch curling iron
· Bobby pins
· Hairspray
· Clip (to keep hair out of the way)
-
How to:
Step 1
Run your index fingers from mid-ears toward the back of your head until they touch at the back of your head. Pin up the top half of your hair to get it out of the way for now.
Step 2
Gather the bottom of your hair at the base of your neck. Now, make a "roller" out of twofingers, and fold your hair up to the clipped section. Bobby-pin it in place. Messy is fine; the pins will be hidden by the curls you'll make on top.
Step 3
Remove the top clip and free the sides of your hair. Re-clip the top bang section.
Step 4
Pull a side section down and back (the direction is important), then twist upward and secure with bobby pins so it lays flat. Repeat with other side.
Step 5
Now comes the fun part: curls. Holding the iron horizontally, wrap a 1-inch section of hair from the crown of your head around the barrel. After five to 10 seconds, unwind it and stretch the curl back 'til it hangs over the bobby pins from step 1. Be sure to break up the curl a little with your fingers.
Step 6
Repeat until you've curled the whole top section and mist with hairspray.
