    Palm Beach, Fla.; $81.5 million

    Kite Runner executive producer Sidney Kimmel sold his Palm Beach, Fla., mansion for $81.5 million in May to John L. Thornton, former Goldman Sachs partner and chairman of the Brookings Institution. Designed by Thierry Despont, who also created Bill Gates' estate, the 32,000 square foot mansion boasts a waterfall and a pool on its five acres, which includes 300 feet of ocean frontage.

    London, U.K.; 92.6 million

    Witanhurst, the second largest residence in London after Buckingham Palace, sold for about $92,665,000, allegedly to Elena Baturina, Russian billionaire and wife of the mayor of Moscow, Yuri Luzhkov. The 18th century, 3,700 square feet, 90-room mansion had been in disrepair since the 1920s.

    Palm Beach, Fla.; $100 million

    Donald Trump sold his Palm Beach mansion to Russian fertilizer billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev this July. The estate, Maison de L'Amitie, spans over six acres including 475 feet of private ocean frontage. Trump had been attempting to sell the house at $125 million, but with no takers for two years, he settled on a clean $100 million.

    London, U.K.; $133 million

    Britain's richest man, Lakshmi Mittal, purchased another home in the same Kensington neighborhood as his May acquisition (see No. 3), known as "Billionaire's Row," for $133 million in June. Mittal now owns about $475 million worth of property in Kensington Gardens, including the modest $70 million dollar home he purchased for his personal use in 2004. This latest property was formerly the embassy of the Philippines.

    London, U.K.; $130 million

    Upper Phillimore Gardens is a swank section of Kensington, and for about a month, this Victorian mansion was the most expensive home ever sold, when it went for $130 million. The 10-bedroom home is expected to require $15 million to $18 million in renovations, which resulted in the property selling for less than its full potential. The buyer, Elena Franchuck, is the daughter of former Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma.

    London, U.K.; $218 million

    This St. James apartment, nestled between Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street, sold for $218 million last March, and the identity of the buyer has yet to be disclosed. Planning has allegedly already begun for the addition of solar panels and a car elevator to the seven-story building.

    Mittal purchased this Kensington Palace Gardens mansion in May for $222 million, at the time a record-setting figure. It checks in at four floors with five extravagant suite bedrooms and a servants' quarters, and comes furnished with an art collection. Mittal is thought to have bought the place for his son.

    Cote d'Azur; $750 million

    The Villa Leopolda mansion on the French Riviera commanded about $750 million when it was sold this week. The mansion, built by king Leopold II of Belgium in 1902, sold to a Russian oligarch.The villa was formerly occupied by the wife of the late billionaire banker Edmond Safra before the deal was struck this month.
